The Modern Mompreneur and Real Life Style

I had the privilege of attending my second Modern Mompreneur event today in Bethesda. It is well worth the drive and going “all the way” to Maryland to get together with this incredible group of mom entrepreneurs that are running amazing businesses. The engaging presentation today from Lani of Real Life Style showcased the Five Power Outfits Every Momprenuer Must Have. It was so great to narrow down what I need in my wardrobe and to think about how I can change things up a bit to look much more professional and stylish. I have defaulted to the Target maternity maxi dress a few too many times to count (and no I am not pregnant, but they are so comfy). Here are some of the tips I took away, but definitely check the Modern Mompreneur blog for more details and examples.

#1 Casual Coffee Meeting

Clean and Polished but Relaxed: Jeans, booties or nice sandals, blazer, button-down shirt, scarf, accessories

#2 New Client Meeting

Put Together with Some Personality: modern suit, sleek tops, a bold necklace, or a low heeled pump.

#3 Speaking Engagement

Bold Color and a Great Fit: a shift dress with nude or black heels, accent with a necklace or earrings.

#4 Executive Meeting

The Power Suit with a Dose of Personality: Try a modern suit in a non-traditional color, classic diamond studs, work tote.

The Capsule Wardrobe: A brightly colored dress and a suit jacket. Match with heels and tasteful earrings.

#5 Cocktail

Modern Luxury: Find the perfect fit dress (some even act as spanx), colorful, deco earrings or gold jewelry, sleek clutch.

It is important to have the right outfit to feel comfortable and confident for any engagement. While it is easy to get overwhelmed with what to wear (or just settle for another maxi dress), these five power outfits are a great place to start. Perhaps I will take the advice of tip #3 as I prepare to speak at the next Modern Mompreneur event June 18th at 10am. Excited to cover “How To Use Influencer Marketing To Promote Your Business”, I’m eager to share the concept that prompted me to launch MtoM.
